Full Description: The ancient market town of Evesham can trace its existence back to the eight century when Evesham Abbey was founded. Now a thriving market town, Evesham has much to offer.
The town is situated in the centre of the famous horticultural Vale of Evesham - the fruit and vegetable basket of England, on the banks of the River Avon and only a few miles from Shakespear's Stratford-upon-Avon. Don't forget to visit the Heritage Centre at The Almonry. This 14th century building houses a wealth of information and artifacts, documenting such important happenings as the history of the great Abbey and the defeat of Baron Simon de Montfort at the Battle of Evesham in 1265.
