A recently completed refurbishment has resulted in a genuinely charming interior, entirely in keeping with the 400 year old building. The bar has a real wood-burning stove at one end and a comfortable dining room at the other, brought together by the locally crafted traditional bar. A new, conservatory-style dining room, perfect for private parties, business meetings or smaller wedding parties or receptions, opens out onto a flower filled gravel courtyard. Out front there is patio seating and half an acre of landscaped gardens which make a lovely backdrop for wedding photos.

You can be assured that our food will add the ‘wow factor’ to your special day. There is a strong focus on local, seasonal produce and menus can be tailored to your requirements.
Most definitely a pub (dogs welcome) but keenly focused on top quality food, Head Chef Kevin Hodgkiss offers imaginative modern British cuisine including a wide selection of classic pub dishes, all freshly cooked to order. Menus change with the seasons and make regular use of local produce. The blackboy is listed in the 2009 Michelin Eating Out in Pubs and the 2009 Michelin Restaurant Guide.
