Berkeley Castle

Berkeley Castle near Bristol in Gloucestershire, is one of the most remarkable buildings in Britain and an outstanding example of Medieval domestic architecture.



2011 Castle Open Season is from Sunday 3rd April until Sunday 30th October 2011 (on selected days)


The Butterfly House is open Friday 22nd April - Thursday 29th September 2011, on the same days that the Castle is open.  Please check below for the days that the Castle is open, as it is not open every day. (The Castle is closed on Fridays & Saturdays for private functions.)

Berkeley Castle is a fairytale castle with its warm pink stone that glows softly in the sunset. Outside, the keep wall drops to the Great Lawn below; but inside the Courtyard the building is very intimate in scale, with uneven battlements, small towers, arched doors and windows of every shape and size.

Thursdays, Sundays & Bank Holidays. (The Castle is not open on Fri 29th April 2011)

The Castle is available for groups on any open days throughout the Season.

  • Last admission is an hour before closing time.
  • Opening times and availability may be subject to alteration.
  • We regret no dogs, except service dogs, are allowed anywhere on the premises
  • Free Car Park with Picnic Lawn adjacent.
  • Guided Tours are FREE (when available).

Child (age 5 - 16) £5.00

Senior Citizen at 60+ £7.50

Student £7.50 with valid Student card

Family (2 adults and 2 children) £24.00

Children under 5 are free.

Pre-booked party rates Adult £9, Child £4.00, Concession £7.00
